About the Job

In this role you will be the Lead officer primarily for statutory nuisance and acoustics ,with  air quality, contaminated land and environmental protection is also part of the Team' s remit.

You will be the “go to” person for statutory nuisance and acoustics  with several Public Protection Officers in the Team who will look to you as the lead officer for guidance and advice. Part of the role is dealing  directly with Councillors and senior managers and other internal and external stakeholders . The work will cover though not exclusively :

  • Noise/ acoustics
  • statutory nuisance   
  • licensing and Planning consultations
  • air quality
  • contaminated land
  • Some COVID Compliance (training to be provided) eg restaurants, pubs, takeaways.
  • Enforcement including prosecution when necessary, using a proportional approach
  • Leading on projects

About You

Along with the Diploma in Acoustics, and be educated to degree level or equivalent. You will have relevant and significant experience in noise and environmental protection work either in local government or the private sector.

You must be passionate about delivering a high quality service and care about improving the lives of our residents and business operators, have a positive attitude, vision and care about the delivery of a first class service. In addition you will need to  have a high standard of written English and have good verbal communication skills to develop effective working relationships and to influence others.  You will have good knowledge of IT systems  such as excel, power point , Microsoft office GIS mapping MS Project etc. and some project management  experience.

You may already be working at a Senior officer level or you may now feel ready to make the next step up in career progression. If this sounds like you we would love to have you on board.
