About the role

We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Emergency Planning Officer, to work within our Corporate and Community Resilience (CCR) Team. The team works collaboratively to ensure preparedness and response arrangements are in place for the Council.

Working with a talented team of individuals, the Senior EPO will work across the full range of Emergency Planning and Business Continuity disciplines including risk assessments, planning, training, response and recovery as well as undertaking duties to support the Corporate and Community Resilience Manager.

This is a rewarding role, where you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders, including the emergency services to help deliver the local authorities responsibilities under the Civil Contingency (Act 2004). The position plays a crucial role in the ongoing improvement to build community resilience within the borough and continue to help relieve the impacts of major incidents on Havering and its residents.

About you

To succeed within this role, you will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with our partners and stakeholder’s. An understanding of Emergency Planning and the Civil Contingency Act would be vital. You will also have the ability to act and make decisions under pressure in fast paced environments. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with experience of organising and facilitating meetings, exercises, training and providing support to the wider Communities Team.

A key part of this role will be to establish effective and long-standing relationships with various stakeholders, most importantly our local residents and partners. As a result you will have a good understanding of the local area its challenges, in addition to displaying exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
