The role of Principal Educational Psychologist sits within the Children and Adults with Disabilities Service (CAD) reporting to the Head of Service. The successful applicant will join the senior management team of CAD who have responsibility for assessment and placement, early years and school education support, social care and preparation for adulthood. The purpose of the CAD service is to work collaboratively to seek positive outcomes for children and young people with additional needs, their families and settings in Havering.

Staff within the service include Educational Psychologists, Advisory Teachers, Occupational Therapists, Communication and Interaction Advisors, Area SENDCOs, Habilitation Officer, Case Officers, Early Support Key Workers, Social Workers and Family support workers.

The Principal Educational Psychologist role is to line manage and lead the Educational Psychologists, delivering and developing high quality Educational Psychology interventions. We are proud of our offer, fulfilling both statutory duties and also a progressive training and support offer for our educational settings. 

We are seeking applications for the role of Principal Educational Psychologist from experienced psychologists looking to join and lead a dynamic, inter-disciplinary and child-centred service. We are committed to applying psychology to make a difference for children and young people in Havering. 

The Principal Educational Psychologist role would be an opportunity for professional development in a supportive service taking on the leadership and management responsibilities for the EP team, in addition to facilitating collaboration with agencies and teams more widely, both internal and external to the CAD service.
Overseeing the timeliness and quality of the Educational Psychology input to the Education, Health,Care assessment and planning process will be a key component of the role, as well as leading the expanding EP offer to schools and settings. Currently this includes consultations, training and an enhanced SEMH offer following successful application of grants from the Mental Health Transformation Fund and Wellbeing for Education Return Fund. These have enabled extended training, supervision (ELSA, Emotion Coaching, Thrive Approach Online), access to a new range of SEMH assessments and resources, parent drop-ins and exciting opportunities working alongside Public Health and CAMHS.

We welcome applications from experienced Educational Psychologists with HCPC registration.  Full and part time applicants are welcome but please note part time should be at least 21 hours.
